can dogs catch the flu from humans?

No, not that I know of. As far as I know, the virus is different in dogs. They can get allergies and pneumonia. i don’t know if they can catch it from us or not, but I know they can get them.

No, diseases can not pass from one species to another. They don’t get sick from us and vice versa.

There ARE actually diseases that you can catch from dogs or give to dogs these are called ZOONOSES. Examples include scabies, brucellosis, leptospirosis, and ringworm. But dogs have not been known to catch flu from humans as of yet. The flu virus is a pretty bad virus in that it is capable of mutating until it can infect a certain species so maybe sometime in the future this may be possible. Ferrets are one animal that can actually catch the human flu and vice versa.

My vet told me that he gets several dogs each season with ‘flu’ symptoms, when ‘flu’ is in the home.
