Question by Jennifer: dog vomiting is it normal?
my dog threw up about 4 hours ago, it was dark, then he threw up stuff that looked like foam , and i put him in his carrier (where he sleeps) and walked over and there was a pile of something that looked and smelled (it was a horrible smell) like the runs but i am not sure which end it came out of, and there was small bits a on his blanket close to the pile, could this be just a case of doggie stomach flu ??
we found a chocolate cookie with a couple of bites missing
could it have been the cookie? he is a chihuahua/rat terrier, it has been an hour and no vomit yay ! keep fingers crossed

maybe. The foam is just dry heave because he has nothing on his stomach. If he continues to have the runs and throwing up over the next 32 hours take him to the vet because it could be worms.

For now take away his food and water for the next day or so because if he’s sick he’s going to keep drinking water and make himself throw up over and over again. Feed him late tomorrow night but feed him boiled rice with some boiled chicken (i usually get the stuff in the can instead of doing a whole chicken).

did you change your dogs food ? they sometimes get sick after chewing something up and swallowing it,they often eat grass to help their stomach feel better.

Im not sure about the doggie stomach flu, but i have seen a dog throw up before. It was full of chunks of some of his food. otherwise, i think it is normal. the vomit that my dog vomited was colored somewhat dark, a bit pinkish.

My dog will vomit quite easily if she eats or drinks too much too fast. If it’s food it comes out as chunks. If it’s after drinking it’s yellowish and foamy. I’d keep a close eye on your dog though. If it continues call your vet A.S.A.P. Could be a lot of things.

do not take away the water

if not better by morning,I would go to the Vets

if it was runs only and maybe caused by something he ate thats one thing and be ok
and if he only vomit foam, could be he was hungry

but if he has it coming out of both ends,A vet visit is a must

let him have the water and food if he is going to keep throwing up he needs to have some thing there to throw up and he needs to stay hydrated. i you have abrubtly changed foods it may have caused it. If he is not better by morning you should take him to the vet.
