Question by sammi: Im concerned about pushing my body?
In 06 I took my husbands advice and stopped listening to my body for rest, food etc. He said he will rest when he is dead and he never went to the Dr. etc. I had been to the Dr. like 4 times for sinus infections etc. I always seemed sick. SO I thought Id try it his way-when I had an ache I ignored it, when I was hungry I ate on a schedule and that was it no matter what. I tried sticking to a schedule no matter what to get everything done I needed to do. It seemed to be working out even though I was dog tired ALL the time. Well, I caught the flu and I was determined NOT to go to the Dr. this time. My husband always “sweats it out” and never goes to the Dr. SO, when the body aches came on I hit the tub with hot hot water. I didnt get better, instead I ended up with a rare nerve syndrome as a result of NOT going to the Dr. and getting on antibiotics. OK-so I learned my lesson, right? BUT Now 5 years later and disabled, Im only being able to persue my writing for any possible future income on a laptop in bed most of the time. However, NOT being on any sort of a real schedule is inhibiting my writing alot and I really need to get something done for my future. The syndrome and the pills for it make me very tired and although I have gotten my body into relatively ok shape now I am not on a schedule to get anything done daily like a word count for writing.
I was wondering if anyone thought if it would be a bad idea to once again make a schedule to stick to? No matter how tired I am? Id just like some input, my sleep schedule is all over the place and I take too many naps and I need to get some kind of way going to make money for retirement. All I can think is another schedule.
Best answer:
Answer by Thea Well a flexible schedule can be good. Just go to sleep early and wake up whenever. If you regularly go to sleep and wake up at around the same time each day, your body should be fine. However, do not push yourself. Believe it or not, sleep deprivation can really hurt you! You might need daily naps, and that is fine too. Just try to have a nap at around the same time everyday and eat three meals a day. BUT you can also have two small naps and eat two meals and snacks in between.
Whatever you choose to do, try to keep it regular and if you feel too tired or hungry between meals, move your schedule around a bit. I’m sure eventually you will find a nice sleep/eat schedule that works for you
As for the writing, you shouldn’t set a word count for every day. Maybe make a goal for each week of a few pages, but then again, one day you could just have a creative spurt and get a lot done whereas others you will write nothing. Do not feel that writing is your only way to make money because you are disabled. There are a lot of work from home jobs or jobs that don’t require much movement for you. Writing is a great job, but you should still be able to pursue your dream job if it isn’t writing.
Question by Wakeuphappyisback: Question about H5N1 bird flu?
I know that it has not really been an issue for the last 2 years in the west but it is still an issue here in Asia.I suppose that this is the right area to ask.Okay,a month and a half ago I went to the Buddhist temple next to my house and saw about 6 or 7 dead chickens which was weird because there was no sign of an animal attack.Later when I was leaving I saw a chicken with its eyes half shut and not running away when I got close. When I could see it clearly it was breathing hard with its tongue sticking out of its mouth. It walked straight into a wall and didn’t seem bothered by it then it laid down and didn’t get up again.I was gone for about 25 days and when I came home the first thing I noticed when the sun was about to set was silence.I would always instantly notice this because I hate the noise chickens make at 3:00 am but there was nothing.I went to temple the next day and one of the monks told my that over 1000 chickens had died since I had been gone and one dog is on his last leg and he is only a year old.As you can see this has me worried I have been trying to find info on why something like this would happen and it keeps coming back to H5N1.The problem is that-bless them-the are not educated people in this are of Thailand and I assume that they would rather keep it under raps instead of making a problem for the temple because as far as I know it would be the first temple to actually have it and they are weird about their temples here and protecting their sanctity over rationality. What can I do?

Answer by Bohemian_Garnet_Permaculturalist That sounds exactly like what chickens do when they have the bird flu. You should contact WHO (World Healthy Organization) and tell them exactly what you have posted here.
Here’s the contact information for WHO:
World Health Organization
Avenue Appia 20

Switzerland
If you are an American living in Thailand, you could also contact the CDC (Center for Disease Control).
Here is the CDC contact info:
* Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
1600 Clifton Rd
Atlanta, GA 30333
* 800-CDC-INFO
(800-232-4636)
TTY: (888) 232-6348
24 Hours/Every Day
* cdcinfo@cdc.gov
In fact, you can contact the CDC, and they will tell WHO.
They will not harm the temple. They will come in, and clean up the bodies of the chickens, and any other dead birds or animals, and dispose of them safely. They will vaccinate the people living in the area, so they are safe. PLEASE, PLEASE contact the CDC, or WHO, and let them know. You could literally be saving billions of human lives.

Question by Abby: What should I do about my dog’s scary sounding cough?
It started last night and he was up all night with this really deep-sounding, vibrating hacking cough. It was like he was trying to cough something up because he would vomit a little after a series of coughs. He’s behaving the same way otherwise; no drowsiness or lethargy. Serious enough for a trip to the vet? Or will some R&R suffice?
Best answer:
Answer by Ashley You can always trip to a vet. You see your dog so if you feel anything is wrong with him ask a pro..

Tavis Smiley: “In no particular order, since we mentioned “Dreamer” first, tell me about “Dreamer.” Prince: “Oh, well, when I saw the “State of the Black Union,” Dick Gregory really moved me and a lot of my friends. I show it to everybody who comes over the house, especially White folks, because they need to hear that, so that they know more about all of us. Because what he said affects all of us. He said something that really hit home about this phenomena of chem trails and when I was a kid, I used to see these trails in the sky all the time and I’d say, “Oh, that’s cool — a jet just went over.” And then you started to see a whole bunch of them and the next you know, everybody in your neighborhood was fighting and arguing and you didn’t know why, okay? And you really didn’t know why. I mean, everybody was fighting. So he started riffing about the chem trails and he started to say things that hit home so hard, and I would recommend that everybody try to get what he said online or wherever, and try to get a copy of it and just listen to it, because I was so moved that I had to write the song. The other thing is the first line of the song says I was born on the same plantation in the United States of the red, white and blue, and we live in a place now that feels just about like a plantation. We’re all indentured servants. When I found out there were eight presidents before George Washington, I wanted to smack somebody. I wanted to know why I was taught otherwise. Question by Paranoid Stalker: Why does no one seem to care about Biden?
This is a bit late, but in the election campaign, Obama, McCain and Palin were always big news and everyone was making fun of Palin but no one mentioned Biden.
Since then i have seen more stories on Obama’s dog than the vice president. People cared about Cheney but no one ever talks about Biden.
I thought of this when i saw a news story briefly mentioning something he said about swine flu where he sounded like a complete idiot.

Answer by barn We knew him! And have been sick of him for years. And just don’t care about Biden. He is a joke.
Question by Tatika M: My dog has a bad cough. I took him to get groomed about a week ago, could he have got kennel cough?
My 9 month pit bull has been coughing really bad today. He has coughed up some white flem, but continues to cough. I have a vet but he is closed until Wed. I do not want to take him to a vet that knows nothing about him. Is there anything I can do to help him feel better until I can get him to the vet?
Best answer:
Answer by tabulator32 If its actually phlegm he coughed up, you may be right.
He will probably need some antibiotics but he needs to see a vet for a proper diagnosis.

Question by Breanna B: Question about my chihuahua (VERY important) She caughta cough form my friends dog! (read inside)?
Ok so I have a 2 pound female chihuahua puppy that I got from a very good chihuahua breeder. (No, she isn’t from a pet store!) I don’t believe in that!
Anyways, my friends chihuahua came from a puppy store and she has this cough-gag thing. The two puppies had a playdate this Saturday and my dog started to cough today just like my friends dog. It sounds like a cough and a gag mixed together. I am so worried and I am not going to let them play again until the other dog gets rid of the cough-gag. I plan to take her to the vet if it continues. (note it is not kennel cough) My friend says that her vet said it wasn’t contagious but I don’t believe that anymore.
Thank you so much!
Best answer:
Answer by darlyngirl1982 my dog had a similar couch/gag sound- it turned out to be a throat infection- it was also making him sick to his stomach from swallowing the infected mucus and lethargic because he had a slight fever.
We went to the vet- got a shot of antibiotics and some pills- and he is 95% better now. See your vet.
Question by Kriquette W: Adopting a puppy, concerned about kennel cough, already have a dog?
I am adopting a 10 month old pup, this Friday, and because of a few things, I question whether or not he has kennel cough. He coughed a few times when we were there with him, but he may have been pulling too hard on the leash. If he does have it, how do I know? Do I automatically keep the dogs separate?(even though they have already had contact with one another?) Is kennel cough expensive to treat?
Best answer:
Answer by Whiskers If he does have kennel cough and the two dogs have already being together its probably already being passed on.
Kennel cough symptoms are a hacking cough and sometimes bringing up phlegm. It’s easy and cheap to treat if caught early.
