Question by Naughty: dog sneezing… any advice?
I have a 12 week old maltese. Anyway, she has been sneezing a lot latley… mostly at night and early in the morning. SHe has a wet nose all time… and before she sneezes she’ll sit up and starts to suck in… like sucking in her mucus… after that then she starts gagging and then she sneezes. Well, I took her to the vet a couple of days ago. They say she looks fine, her heart and lungs sounds great! The doc says she probably has allergy… anyway, they send her home with some allergy meds and other meds for upper respiratory infections. Well, she’s still sneezing a lot…. my question is… is there anything I can do to help relieve her allergies?? and also can there possibly something else wrong with her?? anything will help! thanks.

Answer by Robin B Dogs can suffer allergies too. Make sure you dust and wet mop in her area. Keep her on the medication, and keep the hair out of her nose. Mine do this too, they have hayfever ! Its scary, but fine. If she becomes ill, or listless, the take her back to the Vet. Also, we had a wool rug put in, and my dog had such a bad reaction, we had to remove it. Check for any other triggers for your love, and see if she is having a problem with them. Sneezing is good , it removes the mucus.

Question by possibly_maybe: My doggy isnt acting like himself- any advice?
On sun my dog started acting kind of sick, but I though he was just tired or had a cold because we have had some MAJOR weather changes around here ( such as one day it was 70 degrees and then the next we had an ice storm) He also has arthritis in his left hip, so sometimes that gets a little worse from the cold…. The first sign we thought something was up was he wasnt begging at the dinner table. Second, he has kind of a runny nose and his nose looks lighter, with a light “hack” of a cough. Yesterday he didnt get up to eat only when I brought him wet food and water, I took him out for a light walk about ten minuets max and he was very low energy. This am, when I woke up he was whimpering, and almost had a little shake going on, kind of like a tremor. He is also having some type of pain in his right side, when you touch his back he tries to nip you( he never does that) He is a small dog, and my sister has suggested he may have had a stroke.I dont know if this just sounds like the flu?
*** We are going to the vet in thirty minuets. Thanks for the advice

Answer by manda it may be from the weather since it changes a lot. if its really cold, then suddenly gets hot the next day, your dog might be overheated because he would still have his “winter coat” on from the cold.

www.petdoghealthcare.com — Canine Hip Dysplasia (1) The growing popularity of larger breeds of dogs has brought with it a threat of a crippling disease of the hip joints known as hip dysplasia. This disease was first described in the United States back in the 1930s. Research has produced abundant information on hip dysplasia, but many questions still remain unanswered. It is one of the most popular topics discussed among owners, breeders, and veterinarians. Hip dysplasia is uncommon in small dogs (toys and miniatures), as well as Greyhounds, but it has been found in almost every breed. The disease is an improper development of the hip joint (properly called the coxofemoral joint) which leads to looseness of the joint, partial dislocation (subluxation), and finally, arthritis. Basically, the hip is a ball-and-socket type of joint. If the socket is too shallow, or the ball to flattened, the result is an unstable joint which tends to come out of place. The most commonly affected breeds are: German Shepherd, St. Bernard, Labrador Retriever, Boxer, Springer Spaniel, Great Dane, and the Bull Mastiff. This is by no means a complete or accurate list, since incidence depends a lot on breed popularity. That is to say, it is possible that the Komondor or Great Pyrenees breeds have a high incidence of dysplasia, but, when the average veterinary clinic sees one of either breed every two to three years, how can an accurate breed incidence be determined? Dysplasia is the most common … Video Rating: 0 / 5

Question by GoGreenMomTeam.com: sick as a dog any advice?
I am soooo sick! and Christmas is in just a few days, my first family christmas event is actually tomorrow! and keeps going until christmas day… my son is 2 and he is finally old enough to get excited about it, I’d hate to be so sick I miss it this year
My usual cold and flu remedy is lots of sleep, lots of Air Born and a BIG Jamba Juice Cold Blaster that usually gets me better quick and makes my cold / flu not that bad, but for that to work I have to do it at the first sign of my cold which I didn’t notice this time because I was still getting over a cold I just had.
Any advice to get better quick or at least feel better for a little while. any advice would be so appreciated!
Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas!
oh did I mention sinus pressure? I wouldn’t mind a runny nose, really I wish I had one so it wouldn’t all be stuck in my head. any ideas for that would help too thanks again!

Question by rotty 4 me: Just spayed my puppy. Now she is sick. Need personal advice, please?
Its been 9 days since my 10 month old rottie has been spayed. The day before my basement got flooded to knee level. She was down stairs when i found out. SHE PROBALY DRANK SOME OF THE WATER. 5 days after her surgery i followed up with her vet cause of discharge from the incision and running nose and itchy eyes. She had a fever so the doc gave me cepha which is an anti-biotic for dogs and theN told me this will clean any infection she has. And also give her some benadryl for allergies. So i bought the generic childrens liquid form. Now during this time, mold had evolved in the basement so she is never allowd downstairs. The day after she bagan vommitting flem every 10 to 15 mins and began noticing bloody discharge on the carpet and some droppings on woodin floor. it looks as if she is begining to go in heat? It’s day 9 and she continues to cough, sneeze, vommit flem, itchy eyes, bloody discharge from vaginal area, but she is herself again. I stop giving her the alllergy medicine when she began vommiting. She still is on her fourth day of anti-biotics. She always wants to play. Goes to the door to go out side every 10 to 15 mins, eats plenty and bored. WHAT IS THERE ELSE TO DO? There is supposedly to be a spreading dog flu in chicago. When i took her to get spayed they gave her a muzzle that came from another dog. The basement has mold now after washing it plenty of times but still smells.( Not as much though) Or what about the generic liquiud benabryl? THANK YOU FOR HAVING TIME TO READ THIS. IM JUST REALLY CONCERNED!

Answer by Mouse I really think you should be talking to your vet. She could have some infection from the water from either drinking it or getting some in her incision. Don’t wait, till it is too late.
Question by Marley’s Mama: I need some advice With my dog and how i can get help with vet expenses?
If you are going to tell me to get rid of him Don’t bother even reading the rest of this. I have a Pitbull He is 3 years old, I have had him for Almost the whole 3 years he has been alive. He is my Best friend in the WHOLE world. He wont eat or drink with out me, Or use the bathroom ^_^ Mommas boy, So getting rid of him is NOT an option.
Now here is my problem
I am currently 6 months pregnant. We just bought this house for 4Grand So of course its a fixer upper. Before i got pregnant We got the bedroom done, 1 bathroom, and the living room. So we still have the kitchen and baby’s room next to do, Our other bathroom And other rooms. Meaning A ton of our money is going into our house, Buying new things for the baby, Food, Dog food i have 2 dogs, Bills we are just overwhelmed with all of our expenses. So please don’t judge me.
On top of all of this we have been taking him to the vet for mange treatments every 2 weeks we pay 50 bucks to get him a shot. The vet gave him his last shot. that was about a month ago and i dont think it is mange anymore. Because his ears were all jacked up when before the shots. And his ears are fine they smell good, They are clear and clean. Now he CONSTANTLY bites and GNAWS at his butt and tail Every chance he can get, Its gotten to the point where i can not leave the house because he is sooo self destructive. I don’t understand it He is not bored he has a dog he plays with her all day That’s his other love. Not only do i need to get him fixed before the baby comes but i need to figure out what his problem could be. And get it treated BUT i just CANT afford it. My man is working but i am not because the flu is getting bad around here. i Don’t wanna risk the baby being around a ton of people all day. Plus he has become so high matinace i need to be with him 24/7 I wake up in the middle of the night to him doing it. Its so sad because its all red he bleeds sometimes and he is like making all of his hair come off……I have no idea what could be doing it…Hotspot maybe? We changed his food and he is still doing it no matter what food we get Him so i dont see how that could be it.
Like is there ANY WAY possible that i can get help
I live in pa near Pittsburgh
I refuse to listen to any rude people telling me to give him to another family. i KNOW that you can get help. I have had friends who have just different states different regulations. If there is any way somebody can help me find something in pa that would help me take care of his vet bills Or some of them to help him i would truly appreciate it
iv asked pretty much every place and no one offers anything “vets offices”
care credit has nothing for my zip code
To Hello
I do not Know how he got it. I have had him for 3 years and it didn’t show until early this year. And Do you really think i would know WHY i took so many treatments? Ask my vet. I am not a vet so i trust what the vet said and did what i had to to do treat him.
Seriously i dont understand why people think they have to be so nasty. Like you know me or something.

Question by Sarah: My dog is sick! need advice….?
I have an 11 y/o Corgi/Shepard mix. He had senior blood test panel done 8 months ago and I was told he had no health problems and was “very strong.”
On Wednesday evening, my dog started not to feel good. He threw up and wouldn’t eat. By Thursday, he didn’t have much energy and so I took him to the vet. He had a lot more energy at the vets. lol He didn’t even ‘look sick’.
He drank a normal amount of water on Thursday (without getting sick).
The vet felt his stomach and said it just seemed like he had an upset stomach (didn’t feel any lumps or anything). I was sent home with some pills to give him.
That night he ate a whole can of Tuna with one of the pills. But Friday, he wouldn’t eat at all. I don’t know what happened. He still drinks a lot of water (the normal ammount).
I am worried because the vet is closed over the weekend (although there is an emergency one).
To me it seems like he has the flu, and like people, he can’t eat for a few days afterwards. He IS keeping water down and there’s no more throwing up.
What should I do? How long can he go without food?
Best answer:
Answer by bulldawg you need to stop feeding him whole cans of tuna. get him on a good dog food and leave it at that. are you giving him the pills your vet gave you? he can go for a few days without eating, if he’s drinking, but it’s not good for him. if he doesn’t eat by Sunday morning at the very least call the ER vet
