Question by candi_convertible: I took in a dog with kennel cough and now my other dog is sick. Cant afford vets visit. What do I do?

Best answer:

Answer by Cap
Kennel cough is usually self-limiting. It can be caused by a virus, so like a human cold, it will run its course and all you need is supportive care (rest, fluids, fresh air).

Sometimes, the dog will get a secondary infection or pneumonia and need antibiotics, so you need to watch yours closely to make sure it doesn’t start getting worse, have trouble breathing, run a fever, etc.

Question by Kimberly: I need to take my dog to see a vet cause she is sneezing a lot but I can’t afford it right now, what can I do?
Or maybe someone knows organization’s that help you pay?
I know theres a lot of heartless people that don’t understand when you run into hard times and you have a pet that gets sick and all your asking is for advice. So don’t be so quick to judge untill you know the whole story. But I do want to thank all the people that were considerate of my situation.

Question by Buddy427: What can I do with a dog that ate snow; replaced his diet with snow and is now vomitting can’t pee doesn’t eat?
My dog began eating snow about two weeks ago. This fetish filled his stomach; which made him then not feel like eating his food. Then last monday he began throwing up excessive amounts of phlegm. The vet said his sodium level is up and put him on an IV of sodium chloride. Over the weekend he has been acting like normal; with a couple exceptions his appetite is poor, he quit peeing tonight, and vomits thick phlegm. I think he has a flu bug or a parasite. How can I tell & what can I do?

Best answer:

Answer by OhIDoDoI
Something deeper is at work there. He probably “replaced his diet with snow” because he was horribly thirsty.. which could have thrown his salt balance out of whack.

Call your vet back and tell them about the continuing symptoms, I imagine more bloodwork is in order.
