Question by Mozz: I never adopted a dog from a kennel before. Do all kennel dogs come home w/ kennel cough and mange?
Or was he just a skank? He’s all fixed up now he’s fine, but if someone asks if I would recommend the adoption agency I’m inclined to say no, unless all dogs get these things.
Yes a shelter – not an adoption agency, sorry about that

No way! They treat their dogs very nicely in most places, and usually vacinate them as well. You have nothing to worry about.

Question by sgt. q: If I touch a dog with kennel cough can I spread it to my dog when I come home?

Best answer:

Answer by gallianomom2001
You certainly can. Kennel cough is extremely contagious and I would recommend washing well and even removing contaminated clothing before resuming time with your dog. Vaccination is still your best barrier against the disease. While not 100% effective in all dogs, it usually works very well in most.

Question by Sara D: Why does my dog sneeze, show me her teeth, and pee on the floor every day when I come home?
Every day when I come home my dog wags her tail and shows me her teeth. She sneezes and also she puts her head down, and if I kneel down to pet her she sometimes pees on the floor, too. Why does she do these things? By the way she is a spaniel.

If you are a smoker, and leave marijuana around, the dog may actually be affected by this.

Yes it is, as it is mutating in humans currently.

By November/December (the start of a new flu season), we should see how much H1N1 has mutated, and how many more it will kill.

“Since viruses have such high mutation and reproductive rates, they can adapt to changing environments quite well. Indeed, since the only way they can reproduce is by infecting a cell they must be able to evolve faster the their hosts cells. If not, then the host cells would adapt/evolve to where a virus would no longer be able to infect. Cells change their surface receptors so viruses cannot attach; the viruses change their surface proteins so they can attach to the changed cell surface receptors. The viruses must always stay ahead of the evolution game. They are very, very good at this.” – UCLA College of Medicine

Question by Bryan: How come dogs dont get deseases we can get from contagious people?
When ever im sick, flu, cold, cough ect, i always sit with my dog, we watch tv together, and i tell her about my day (shes good at listening) I noticed that people get sick very easily from contagious people, but my dog that i spend most of my day with when im sick never gets sick. Do dogs have a better immune system then humans? Or is there just deseases we get that dogs cant get, and deseases that dogs get that we get?

Answer by Curious
Some illnesses are canine-transmissible, but not all are. And some canine illnesses can be transmitted to humans and others can’t. That’s just way. Plus, people in contact with other people get sick mostly because they touch things that the sick person touched and then touch their eyes or eat food with their hands. Dogs don’t do that.
