I hope this story encourages pet owners and vets to use the serum as soon as the first signs of distemper appear instead of waiting to see if other symptoms develop. Bella is a beautiful chihuahua mix who was rescued from being euthanized at our local animal control facility last March. She seemed perfectly healthy but within a few days she began to cough. I took her to the vet who diagnosed her with kennel cough and prescribed antibiotics. Her cough worsened so the vet prescribed more antibiotics. It wasn’t until she stopped eating and became lethargic that he finally decided she”might” have distemper. He suggested euthanasia as an option and said supportive care was all that was available. We said no so she was put on IV fluids and medications. That night I found your site and contacted you. I now know that had we already known about the serum Bella would have gotten treated the day she began to cough. Instead it was over two weeks after she started coughing before she received the serum. It did help her because the next day she sat up, walked around and allowed us to feed her with a syringe. Due to Pixie’s muscle condition, normal defense functions like coughing, sneezing and vomiting are compromised. Pixie aspirated fluid when she tried to vomit and went into respiratory distress. we took a dog in that was droprd and he was skin&bones I have been feeding him for a week since we found him in our shed. He has put on a little weight but how do I know if he has heartworms.He eats good now but he has a little cough after he gets use to people I want to take him to our vet and have him checked out but when we first found him he was skin&bones. we dont know how long he had been out in the woods before he came up to our house. I am an animal person and I hate to see animals misstreated and we can tell he has been cause for a few days he would shy away when we tried to pet him.Thank you

I love him to absolute pieces but ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!! Even if he drinks a little water he comes out gacking and cacking. Why?????

my dog does this with water too.
she’s 8 years old, and she’s had it since she was about 2 or 3.

our vet said it was a condition called “kennel cough”. nothing fatal, but go to your vet and ask about it.
they’ll give you a medicine to reduce the gagging.
our dog got a lot better after the medicine, so good luck!

My dog does this coughing, sneezing, gasping thing every time she eats as if she’s eating too fast. But even just feeding her a piece at at time she will chew then snart the coughing. It’s almost like an inward sneeze. Any ideas as to what’s causing this?

omg aw see her vet!!! that could be a problem. My dog gizmo does that sometimes but he gets excited so we know the reason. make sure its not serious

Question by on a limb: My dog is listless but eats well, drinks well, but won’t go upstairs.?
This has happened before and the vet sees nothing…2 different vets. Does anyone have any suggestions. I’ve done the vet thing…just a flu, they say.
Important detail…we traveled by car from ontario to Alberta and were gone for several day. He was with me constantly and never off leash outside…It’s weird.
I have an appointment tonight with another vet, but if someone has ideas, maybe I can suggest it to the vet…since they aren’t doing too great a job themselves. I’m thinking joint or arthritis too.
He’s eating and drinking, pooping and peeing.
My dog is not old…only 2 years old. Poor baby.
I took him back to the vet twice yesterday and we are waiting for results

I haven’t changed his food, I’m not feeding him more than normal he’s not eating too fast, and he throws up instantly until it’s stomach acid.

It’s relaly quick also, one or two licks and he’s out the door for 30 min. It started like 2 days ago. It seems like a human version of the stomach flu?
