I took my 16 wk old puppy to the vet for vaccinations and mentioned that she was sneezing a bit. The vet then told me she probably needed clavamox but he had to run blood tests and the whole thing would be $ 200! I asked if I could just have the clavamox and he said not unless I paid for all the tests. Otherwise the dog is healthy, no fever, lungs are clear and she is active and has a huge appeite. Am I a horrible dog mom for not paying the money and is it possible if she has aa cold it will just clear up on its own?

Don’t pay for something that won’t do any good. Viruses can’t be cured by antibiotics. Absolutely cannot. You just have to let them run their course. It could also be an allergy. Or just some dust in the air.

You should take her temperature. You can use a human thermometer, you just need to get her temp through her rectum.

NO THATS NOT OK!
I volunteered in a vets office and someone actually called and asked that question. Its not safe and the way humans and animals respond to different medicines is not always the same, dont risk it.

What you do is call the vet, set up an appointment, have him check out doggie, have him determine the problem, have him prescribe a medication if necessary, then you administer the medication according to the directions on the container or according to your vet.

DON’T GIVE HIM COUGH MEDICINE!!! take him to the vet. he could have kennel cough. DO NOT give him cough medicine. it will kill him.

wow we get this alot we rescue some dogs that come from the shelter there is really no way until you get his meds just make sure you keep him away from other dogs because it contagious. just give him lots of loves and make him comfy
