I have a black lab and about a month ago she got her first shot for treatment of heartworms. She’s been home for a couple of weeks and recently she started having coughing fits. They last between 5 and 10 minutes. During which she hacks and coughs, and even makes a loud burping noise. I’m taking her to the vet tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anybody had a dog do the same thing? Is this normal? Is there anything that I can do for her to make her feel better and cough less? Thanks!

Answer by Shannen Aside from the hacking cough, your dog will appear generally healthy, with a good appetite. He’ll simply suffer through it–but obviously if he could voice a preference, he’d choose to not be ill in the first place.

My beagle/rat terrier mix dog has been acting strange for the past 2 days. She makes a sound like a sneeze and almost acts like she’s going to vomit. She then paws to go outside… and she immediately starts eating grass. I know that she must have stomach upset… but I was wondering, is this a sign of something she ate that didn’t agree with her, or something more serious (?) thanks for any help

Grass helps regulate a dogs digestion, and the reason she is trying to vomit is because she’s trying to get the bad food out. If she keeps this up, something might be blocking her throat, but that is very rare.

Well i have to write a final essay for english, and we have to choose a controversial topic to take a position on for a “persuasive” essay.
Our teacher said we cant do:

because these are all so OVER used topics that are overtalked about n she doesnt want to hear about them again.

–READ– Sorry for the bad video! I HATE Windows Movie Maker. This description will help you better than than the video will. Kennel Cough is when your dog or cat iscoughing and hacking, and their throat sounds very dry. You’re going to need some cough medecine, (I used Tussin DM, sugar and alcohol free) bany brand should do.You are also going to need a small plastic syringe to place inside your dog’s mouth to insert the medecine. If your dog is small like mine, fill the syringe with half a teaspoon of the medecine. If larger, use a full teaspoon. Get someone to hold your dog firmly by the neck and body so they can’t run away. Once you have your dog held firmly, insert the syringe on the side of their cheek, towards the back. Then press the syringe and let the medecing come out. The medecine should be far down enough to where your dog can’t spit it out because it is too deep down in his mouth, so he will have to swallow it.Once he has taken the medicine, he should start feeling better. But Remember, this is only for a minor case of Kennel Cough. If your pet is warse, it needs to see a vet. Thanks!

well first off I have had the flu since thursday throwing up 102 fever and all. and on thursday i got into a wreck which wasnt so bad because i have never had a wreck or a ticket. then saturday was my 18th birthday and I was sick as a dog and still am. so sunday I decided tylenol wasnt good enough and needed some flu med. and what do you know i get a speeding ticket for going 21 over because I wanted to get home and lay down. This has been the worst week ever. well am i going to lose my license or insurence a month before I head off to college? please me anybody.

I’m sorry, but this is going to be a long list of questions.. My dog has been acting VERY weird for the last 13 hours, ****so we’re planning to take him to the vet in an hour.***
1) Is it ok if malteses eat chicken?
2) What are the signs of a ‘dog cold’ (I heard that dogs do not have colds, but it isn’t a proven fact). My dog hasn’t been urinating, active, and hasn’t been drinking water on his own. He barks at passing people, so that makes me a little bit relieved that
3) I had the stomach flu. Is there a chance that he might have caught the stomach flu?

I will also add that he has a fever… or it looks like it. He has a very warm body.
And I meant chicken as in chicken breast, not chicken bone.

We have a appt tomorrow.. But Iam just curious.. Its my daughters dog he is 2 yrs old (pug) well today she came in and said he was throwing up and didnt want to come out and play so I went back there and he would hardly move had a long look on his face, almost like he is out of it…. I have been watching him all day and when he drinks water it comes right back up and its a white foam look..
I called the vet and he said just to watch him and bring him in tomorrow, but I am just scared this dog is always very ready to play and do things and now he moves like a old man and just lyes there.. Do u think he could of gotten posioned or something? Do dogs get flu’s ?…
I would but we live in a hillbilly town and only have two vets nobody offers emergencys.. Which is CRAP

we took my 5 year old pure bred lab to the vet to get spade and they told us she has heart worm and hook worm. we already got the medicine for the hook worm and the medicine for the heart worm for the first 3 months is I’m 19 and I just lost my job i’ve been looking for a new one but i havent had any luck. the vet said she has to be kept inside and ive been doing a really good job of taking care of Tsuki cleaning up her hair, taking her out shes never peed in the house and today i had to take my 8 month old son to the hospital (he has swine flu) and i didnt get a chance to sweep up the hair my parents threw her outside, wont let her back in and refuse to pay for her medicine. my mom even thinks the vet is lying to get us to spend money how gay is that!? they have more then enough money to pay for her but they wont. i dont want to take her to a shelter but i will to save her life so does anybody know anything i can do??? we also have another lab mix that probably has it but she hasnt been tested my parents are so neglectful! tsuki lost 15 pounds from the hookworm she weighs 55 lbs and we live in northwest arkansas (theres nobody i can go to for a loan either)
