Question by Breanna B: Question about my chihuahua (VERY important) She caughta cough form my friends dog! (read inside)?
Ok so I have a 2 pound female chihuahua puppy that I got from a very good chihuahua breeder. (No, she isn’t from a pet store!) I don’t believe in that!
Anyways, my friends chihuahua came from a puppy store and she has this cough-gag thing. The two puppies had a playdate this Saturday and my dog started to cough today just like my friends dog. It sounds like a cough and a gag mixed together. I am so worried and I am not going to let them play again until the other dog gets rid of the cough-gag. I plan to take her to the vet if it continues. (note it is not kennel cough) My friend says that her vet said it wasn’t contagious but I don’t believe that anymore.

Answer by darlyngirl1982 my dog had a similar couch/gag sound- it turned out to be a throat infection- it was also making him sick to his stomach from swallowing the infected mucus and lethargic because he had a slight fever.
We went to the vet- got a shot of antibiotics and some pills- and he is 95% better now. See your vet.

Okay, so this past weekend I rushed home because my mom was in the hospital and unluckily my dog was in heat I think ( i thought she was done with her cycle and i plan/planned to get her fixed this december over xmas break) but anyway one of my mom’s dogs was trying to hump her and kept licking her bottom…So I went to the hospital and I put a gate up to divide the house from the two boy dogs and my girl dog. When I got home (after 12 hours at the hospital) she had climbed the gate somehow and was with the boys. Now this week (we are back at school now) She is super super tired like sleeps all day and all night and she also throws up and has diahrrea. She is eating regular but drinks alot of water i think. Also, we usually walk 2 miles a day and now she always turns around early. My dog is a pom-chi mix and is 1.5 years old. Could my dog be pregnant, just tired, or just have the flu ( i got the flu from the hospital maybe dogs can catch flu from humans my dog sticks like glue to me too)?
Also, her breath has been bad since she was born…how can I fix that besides brushing her teeth (i’ve tried she hates it, it’s difficult, and doesn’t show results) ?
She also has been licking her bottom and back leg area alot!

Answer by Aduial Go to the vet and have her spayed now. If the behavior doesn’t clear up then look for other reasons.
