My daughter has a small jack russel/collie cross, he’s a lovely little fella and about 18 months old. About 6 months ago he developed a cough, we took him to the vet who treated him for kennel cough, this didn’t work, 2 weeks later we took him back, he gave him anti biotics and a steroid injection, he didn’t cough for 2 days, then the cough returned, and we are talkin 24 hours every 2 mins coughing. back to the vet more anti biotics, and a treatment for grass Allergy.. still coughing, and getting weaker and tired all the time. We have been back to the vet over 12 times and this little lad is still no better. The vet suggested flushing out his lungs, they kept him in for 10 hours and washed out his little lungs and found nothing, all clear so a stronger anti biotic has been given and steroid injection and he still remains the same. Visit to the vets today revealed they don’t have a clue whats wrong and have said we may have to consider putting him to sleep. I have a 4 year old granddaughter and a 3 year old grandson who adore this little dog, please please if anyone can help diagnose what could be wrong i would be forever grateful

Answer by keezy It may be a food allergy – Remove all grains from diet and best of all research raw feeding and start that.
For about two years now, my body has been out of control… The breathing tics that you will hear, many times go on at least 40 times an hour but don’t always make me as dizzy but interfere many times with eating and I have gagged on my food plenty of times before because of it; thank God for some reason my oxygen saturation rate is still ok. My body will tense up and sometimes I am brought to the floor, even in a store out in public and my eyes will roll up and to the side where I can’t see things very well. When this has happened, many people have come to me thinking I am going into a seizure (especially if the harsh compression of my upper abdomen is happening or breathing tic). The breathing tic will make it so I can’t answer for a few seconds at times which is why its hard to talk on the phone too. I try to avoid all these things because it is so stressful emotionally too. I put a thing on my service dog’s vest that talks about the tics and warning that I Do NOT have epilepsy but spasms and my dog will take care of me. And he does… many of times he gives deep pressure into the areas that are having spasms and on my chest for the breathing ones. These spasms do make my body more tired at times so I am sweating more… I feel like I’m getting a work out all the time. Its hard to fall asleep or sit still w/ them and even affect my ability to best concentrate and think. Question by Kevin: My dog won’t stop sneezing, please help!?
So my dog randomly started sneezing, and has been sneezing every few seconds for 10 mins now. Im getting quite worried cuz it seems to be bothering her. Its a warm summer day, but she hasnt been outside recently, and she is trying to sit in the shade. She is itching her snout and sneezing. Is this bad? What can I do to help? I tried to get her to drink some water but she didn’t want to.

Luckily, she can not get human cold viruses.
She most likely has an upper respiratory tract infection which is like a cold. But it would be caused by a canine virus so you can not get it.
Other causes are nasal irritants which means she inhaled something that has irritated her nasal passages, tooth root infections, or foreign bodies that she has inhaled into her nose. Examples of a foreign body would be a seed or a blade of grass.
The best thing to do is just take your dog to your vet, or call your vet to see what you can do.

my dogs are not sick but i was wondering how can i tell if my dog has a fever? can i buy a thermometer and check when he/she is acting well and then when i think sick check and compare > would you have to insert it in the “rear” of the animal or could i buy one for the stomach ? just wanting some preventative info so i can tell better if my dog is running a tempature – thank you
i dont know jr what are you suppose to do if the dog has a temp? lets not be retarded i would take the dog to the vet if his/her temp was high – preventative is the key word – where if my dog is moping around the house one day or just extremely tired i know how to take his/her temp and take them to the vet if necc. if not i can try to cheer up my baby – in jesus name my dogs have never gotten sick or had a “temp” i always hear people saying she had a fever so we took her in – im asking how do you tell so if it ever happens i will be prepared – and i will be able to tell so my dog doesnt lay their sick and i just think she/he is tired or just moping around because i took her toy away for growling at the other dog ( just examples )

Answer by Shadow’s Melon I love my pets, but I don’t check for fevers myself. If there is a possible medical issue, we always go to the vet, who then will check it if needed.

My dog has been coughing everyday. He looks like he is going to throw up when he does it, but he just hacks and then he’s okay. It’s almost like a cat coughing up a hairball. It’s has really started to worry me though. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what it could possibly be. Any answer would be greatly appreciated.
He’s a young dog, but he hasn’t really been around any other dogs at all. Do you think it could still be kennel cough? I’ve heard it from a few different people.

She yells at me all the time even though I do so much to not stress her out…I convinced her to kick out my abusive dad (I almost committed suicide because of that prick and he used to slip harmful food to my disabled sister who has PKU). She said that none of the turmoil in our house would go away just because my dad leaves…that it’s “everyone’s” fault that we’re so unhappy. But really she just mean it’s mine and my brother’s fault. Well, my brother really is selfish and mean. He’d rather spend time with his girlfriend than help with my sister while I’m in the hospital for my PCOS. But I deal with all my teachers and school affairs (I’m home schooled), I deal with all my doctors appointments and attend them by myself since my mom works full time, I babysit my sister and will drop ALL my plans at a moment’s notice if I’m needed around the house. One time my mom wanted to go out of state for the weekend to attend a meeting with some doctors in order to find a cure for my sister’s rare illness. The meeting happened to occur on the same day as my theatre school class (which I love and am paying $ 200 for). I didn’t complain one bit when she said I’d have to babysit. I just told her to tell me when the plans were finalized so I could call and let the school know that I wasn’t going (they ended up canceling because the person who was supposed to drive my mom there got sick with the flu). But lately I’ve been sick so I don’t even have the drive to watch my sister correctly or do my chores. I leave my clothes all over the house not because I want to be lazy, but because my room is on the third floor and every time I walk up there I feel like I’m gonna die (I have ovarian cysts and they hurt when I exercise at all). The house often smells like cat piss because I keep the litter box in my room so I don’t forget to clean it but lately I’ve been sleeping on the second floor close to the bathroom…And no one even bothers to help me out by cleaning the litter box or washing the dishes for me (well my mom washes dishes for me sometimes).
I mean, in her defense, I KNOW it’s stressful trying to find the cure for a rare disorder all while trying to feed and clothe a family of four. She often has to argue down the bill collectors and whatnot because they try to screw her over and stuff. Plus she has to raise my pain-in-the-a** brother who skips school, doesn’t do any chores without complaining about it first, and spends all his time outside with his girlfriend.Typical sixteen year old boy.
But jeez, I’m already going on seventeen and I don’t have any social life except the bunch of twelve and thirteen year old kids in my theatre class. I don’t like asking mom for money but I can’t get a job at the moment with my illness. I don’t really have a problem with my chores. Really. I don’t mind babysitting or anything, but I just hate when she calls me self centered or selfish! It just pisses me off so much for some reason! Usually I’ll just brush it off because I know she’s scared for my sister and stressed out (her health isn’t that great either) but lately I just feel so swamped. And I can’t just up and leave because of how compromised my sister is and because we recently fired our nurse because she was secretly smoking in our bathroom (the neighbors caught her and told us about it). Still, I just feel like I want to get away, by myself, or with some good friends (too bad I haven’t had a single friend for the past four years). Sometimes I imagine myself in a huge condo with a friendly dog somewhere in a city that’s alive with interesting people and lots of places to go to and see…without my family there. And I feel so guilty for it. On the other hand, I feel like I have my own problems to deal with…for instance my PCOS requires me to take all kinds of hormone pills and they cause me to gain weight. I’m already 90lbs overweight, can’t help but sleep all the time, and I feel disgusting. I can’t even practice musical theatre or dance for exercise like I used to because of these damn cysts. I just feel like I don’t like having all these problems AND having her yell in my face too. But at the same time I know she has problems as well…How do I sort out these insane feelings?!
And talking to her NEVER works…she just convinces me to see her way as the “right way” sooner or later because when I try to voice or write my opinions, I always lose track of what I was thinking and end up not having a valid argument…Probably a result of my dad’s mental abuse and the fact that I can never keep track of my thoughts but that’s how it is.
What can I do?!

Answer by oruboris Wow, you really are in a tough situation: I’m very sorry your life is hard right now, but I’m sure it will get better.
First, are you being treated for your illness? that is VERY important.
Second, I think you need to make some life changes to simplify your life for the time being. Consider moving to the second floor so you don’t have to climb the stairs so much. Keep a laundry basket at the bottom of the stairs so you can accumulate stuff there that has to go upstairs, that will cut down the clutter [making your mom happy] and make your day a little easier. Buy some clumping, flush-able cat litter, and move the litter box to the bathroom. It will only take seconds to keep it clean that way.
Third, try and establish better communication with your mom. Start by expressing your love and appreciation for her on a daily basis: she needs to hear that right now. Don’t let every conversation be about you and your needs. If you give a little attention and affection, you will begin to get some back. I know it’s not fair, but life never really is.

Hi, i feel fine, i mean i don’t have flu or cold or any illness. I just have Phlegm and mucus in my throat and i am sick of it because i makes me smell like dog pooh. Should i drink nyquil? Is there any medicine i can use to get rid oi ti, or any exercise: but i don’t really think exercise would help ’cause i already did and nothing happened.
Please help me. Or if u know there is any drug or medicein for it, then please say it.

my terrier started this reverse sneeze last july after biting toads once a day.She has been on antibiotics which help at first and then they stop helping, steroids make her crazy and makes her pee on herself and gain weight. she has seen 3 vets and been treated with diferent antibiotics for up to a month at a time. She is not on antibiotics now and has been off of them about a month , the last vet said try Benedryl which made her sleep all the time and really didn’t help that much. She has no fever but will have her nose running clear all the time, but when she sneezes there is some thick snot. She seems to be getting worse now that the antibiotics are over,she is an active Jack Russell Terrier about 20 lbs 7 yrs old and loves to play ball but this reverse sneeze and reg. sneezing is bothering both of us. Please help her so she can be back to her old terrier self. THANKS

Answer by bluemoonmelodey Sometime a pet can be alergic to things we are. You may want to check out if your dog is allergic to grass, or pollens. This can cause alot of sneezing and discharge. Also you pet might be alergic to dust. Sound crazy but it happens. If your dog is sneezing alot outside, and durring the soon after time when he comes in it may be grass or pollen. If so limit time outside durring the worse pollen seasons, and wipe his face down with a damp rag after bringing him in.

I have a seven year old Pomeranian and, for some reason, he is sneezing a whole bunch. He has never done this before and I’m getting kind of scared. It’s not just a couple of sneezes (he’s done that before), it’s a sneezing fit. It started about 15 minutes ago and it seems to be getting worse. I don’t know what to do. I tried looking at his nose, and it seems normal. I tried looking in his mouth, also normal.
Last night, he got into a package of cookies that had chocolate on them and he threw up all over the place. I wanted to take him to the vet, but my mother told me he’d probably be just fine and not to worry too much about it (he’s gotten into chocolate before and been OK). But I’m not sure… Would this have anything to do with his sneezing fit?
Please help me. This dog is my baby and I would be devastated if anything happened to him.
OK, he’s stopped sneezing now. He seems fine but I’m still a little worried. Should I just take him to the vet or just keep watching him?

I recently posted a question and only got one answer, and im getting worried, im stay so tired all the time, i sleep ALL the time, but its not even sleep, i lay there restless, i dont have the energy to move, but when i get up i don’t have the energy to stay up. I can’t do the simplest of chores anymore, I can barely do anything without feeling like im dying. It almost feels like when you have the flu and your body just aches. Im always restless, I lay in bed for hours without sleeping, and I’ll get up, and feel dog tired. Me and my boyfriend have to move into our new place by tomorrow, and im trying to help but im so tired all the time. Its scaring me and its so fustrating, i know this can’t be normal. Im wondering about being anemic? I know it is a serious thing. What are the symptoms? Should i go see a doctor in the morning? I’ve been avoiding iron because it makes me throw up so much. But someone told me that might actually be really bad, because im not getting any iron. Can some please tell me whats going on? Should i go see a doctor asap? It’s getting so bad i barely want to even eat.
I am taking the flintstone vitamins everyday. And trying to eat as healthly as possible. Just staying weak 24/7. It’s miserable.
