Question by Walk By Faith: What kinds of signs would a dog be showing if it had rabies?
I know a dog doesn’t have to be showing signs rabies to have them. So if a dog isn’t showing the signs of rabies (crazy acting, aggressiveness, slobbering, etc.) are there signs before that to say they might have rabies? Or can they seem perfectly fine & healthy & still have rabies?
B/c this stray dog kept licking my hands & I have eczema on my elbows & there are little scabs on my elbows & I don’t remember if they were scabbed over at the time I handled these dogs & I don’t remember if I touched my elbows or not. Is getting rabies like getting another virus? (You know like the way you would get the flu or a cold – where if you touch the virus & put your hands in your mouth & etc.)
Like what are the signs that a dog will show AS SOON AS they get bit by an animal with rabies? (besides that fact that they’re hurt.)
BETTER YET HERE’S A BETTER QUESTION: Can you get rabies from animal before the virus reaches the brain? And what are the signs that it has the reached the brain? And is it always certain that they show these signs when it has reached brain?

Question by T: Can a dog be a carrier of Kennel Cough without showing any signs of it?
I am wondering because my dog has been coughing, but he has never been to a kennel and we havent been to the dog park in forever, but one of his walking buddies that we see a few times a week is a boxer who boards frequently at a kennel and goes to doggy daycare. I am wondering if my dog’s friend might have carried it and gave it to him. My dog is coughing, but his friend is not.
Thanks…I made a vet appointment for tomorrow.

Question by j. h: 9 yr old showing signs of the flu?
The school called me yesterday around 230. They said he didn’t have a fever, but he told them he felt bad all over. So I went to get him after work, at 415. He was ok, been playing and all. When I took him to his Doc. appointment at 445, they said he had a high fever at 101 point something. They made sure and took it 2 times. They did what they had to do for his appointment and then tested him for strep since they have a case at his DC. I got him home and he couldn’t keep his eyes open. Our dog wouldn’t leave his side which was VERY cute. I had him eat some yogurt, and he managed to eat about 5-6 chips along with it. I gave him some Children’s Ibuprofen and it broke the fever. This morning he doesn’t have one, but his DC wont let me bring him in until he is 24 hours fever free, which is ok with me, I need a break from work. The thing is…here are his symptoms and they worry me.
Fever
runny nose/congestion
coughing (just started about 10 min ago)
Negative strep test
body aches(he said he hurts all over)
headache(he said his head hurts, so does mine)
very red throat (doc said)
He is NEVER sick. Only some ear infections. He does have allergies but nothing is pointing to that issue. I am getting him into his doc ASAP due to the fact my dad, whom we live with, has some very bad lung issues. His Doc said he CAN NOT be around anyone with the flu, or a simple cold. If he ends up with it, he WILL end up on a Vent. in a matter of hours. Also keep in mine that he was fine when he left yesterday for DC. This hit him all of the sudden.
He said he didn’t eat lunch so that makes me think it hit him around 1030 or 11. In my opinion, going for playing and horsing around at 8 and 9 to not eating or playing 2 hours later, thats not right.
Please let me know what you think. Only HONEST answers and not kids playing around being stupid.
We are NOT hypos!!
He is sick!!
He is NEVER sick!!
Why do you think I am one!?!?
I gave the details..MORON!
He has a Doc appointment, I just made at 1015. Ill keep you guys updated. If it is the flu, of anykind, then he is the only one around this area with it.

Question by earthenergyherbs: In Arizona, is a landlord required to give 30 days notice to list the home you rent for sale before showing?
Yesterday we were notified that the home we rent (our lease is now month to month) is for sale and in two days we need to allow access to the listing agent to show the home to prospective buyers. This concerns us greatly due to our guard dog and a member of our house has an impaired immune system. We feel that allowing people that could have potential illness (it is flu season) in the house puts this family member at risk. We are willing to move within 30 days, especially to avoid the potential risks to health and the safety of our pets. We live in an area where predation is a huge risk. You don’t let your cats or dogs out because they may not come back. Do we have the option to allow access without proper notice if proper notice is even required?
Best answer:
Answer by go_lc_bears It is the owners house, so unfortunately they are not required to notify you that the house is going to be for sale. Also, they are only legally required to give 24 hour notice to show it in most states, so it sounds like your landlord is following the rules.
If you have a problem with people being in the house, you will need to discuss your concerns with the landlord, and try and make a deal with him. Maybe he will only show it when you guys are out, so you wont have to worry about becoming sick.

This started about five hours ago, I don’t think there was any chance in her getting into anything. The only two things I can think of is we recently changed her dog food and she was outside a little more often than normal in the heat. (she is a boxer and almost always in doors)

She is not eating or drinking.I can get her to lick ice cubes from my hand but she will not eat or drink from her dish. She has periods of shaking and shivering like the chills and appears to be weak and unable to climb into her usual resting spots. We have not observered any blood or parasites in her stool and she is not vomitting or having diarrea.
