There is no such thing as a “teacup Chihuahua”, but I’m leaving that phrase in the title because that’s how I get all my views. This so-called “teacup” turned out to be HUGE and FAT as an adult dog, so don’t believe the nonsense about “teacups”. They are just runts, but they could easily grow up to be normal sized. —————- This is my 9 week old female Chihuahua. She’s only 1 pound and 2 oz and I bought her one week ago. I took her to the vet on 05/20 and she was diagnosed as having parasites and worms. The vet gave her a LOT of medicines and treatments. Here is the rundown of all the different meds. The vet gave her a shot of Pyrantel Pamoate for pinworms. The invoice says “Qty 2 – Pyrantel Pamoate (Strongid). He also gave her a partially used bottle of Albon 5% oral medication for parasites, which I was to continue giving to her until it ran out. She has taken the medicine for 5 days now. I’ve read online that 5 days is the normal length of treatment so I am not giving her any more of it. I read online that you are supposed to shake the Albon very well before using it. The vet did not tell me that. He also didn’t bother to tell me about any side effects that could occur, although there are several. He also gave me a small tube of Advantage Dog flea treatment (ointment) that I was instructed to rub between her shoulder blades. The tube says that it is for dogs under 10 lbs. I asked him if I should use the whole tube considering she is only 1 lb. He said yes

She has gotten worse since this video. The vet said all we can do is watch her tonight. If she runs any fever during the night the will treat her for menigitis. If no fever happens before Monday, they will treat her for a seizure disorder.

Question by sulli21282: Can a human get sick from a dog?
My friend just got a puppy from the pound. I’ve been keeping her this weekend and at times she was very warm, but wanted to cuddle and be under covers. So I thought she may have a fever….if dogs can get those? Well, now I’m sick…with a fever. No joke! Is this possible? Can I really catch sickness from a dog?

No, you can’t get sick from your dog. :]

Just like dogs can’t catch colds from us. They have different strings of viruses and diseases than humans.

Question by stephanie: my dog keeps sneezing, is he sick?
my dog was neutered 2 weeks ago tomorrow (7/7). He ended up having to go back 5 days later (7/12) for an ablation. He is a st. bernard. The following day I noticed 2 seperate spots on the incision werent fully closed and was discharging the clear stuff that comes out with blood, along with blood. I then took him to the Evet where they surgical stapled him back up and gave him meloxicam, cephalexin, and tramadol. About 4 days ago he did this weird thing which I now think is a reverse sneeze, and hes also sneezing very frequently. He’s really snotty and today it his snot was brown in color. What is the reason for all this? could he be allergic to the drugs? I did call the Evet and she said its very possible it could be kennel cough and that I should just keep monitoring him. Im not doubtful of her, I would just like to know more! Thanks

No one here -even a vet – can diagnose a dog they can’t see. It sounds like your dog is very ill and his life is in danger. IF you can’t provide medical care.. surrender this dog to the humane society or a rescue program. Don’t just watch the dog die.

Question by John Turban: Can I get my dog sick?
I have the flu and strep throat and want to pet my dog and such, but I’m worried I can get him sick.

Is it possible for me to transfer either 2 my dog?

Best answer:

Answer by Jacob
Although I doubt the flu is contagious to a dog, it is likely for a dog to catch a disease from a human. Just treat the dog like you would a loved family member, try to refrain from kissing it, or letting it lick your face, and try to wash your hands before contact. The strep throat isn’t contagious though.
