Question by Kevin: My dog won’t stop sneezing, please help!?
So my dog randomly started sneezing, and has been sneezing every few seconds for 10 mins now. Im getting quite worried cuz it seems to be bothering her. Its a warm summer day, but she hasnt been outside recently, and she is trying to sit in the shade. She is itching her snout and sneezing. Is this bad? What can I do to help? I tried to get her to drink some water but she didn’t want to.

Thanks,
Kevin

Does she have nasal drainage?

Luckily, she can not get human cold viruses.

She most likely has an upper respiratory tract infection which is like a cold. But it would be caused by a canine virus so you can not get it.

Other causes are nasal irritants which means she inhaled something that has irritated her nasal passages, tooth root infections, or foreign bodies that she has inhaled into her nose. Examples of a foreign body would be a seed or a blade of grass.
The best thing to do is just take your dog to your vet, or call your vet to see what you can do.

Question by God: My dog has had a nosebleed for several days that won’t stop. Any suggestions for cause and treatment?
The dog has Valley Fever. He’s at the animal hospital, but the vets seem clueless about what to do. Any pet owners out there who have experienced something like this and have some suggestions about what should be done?

Question by hershey: is it normal for a dog to stop eating if he has kennel cough?
I have a puppy 4 months old and he was diagnose with kennel cough he is on antibiotics and cough syrup but he wont eat sometimes i have to give him food with my hands, should i go to the doctor again or is that something normal that happens when dogs have that disease?

Answer by BMTHESPIAN
Kennel cough itself does not generally cause a loss of appetite. However it also does not require antibiotics as it is a virus not a bacteria. Kennel cough can lead to secondary infections that do require antibiotics and can cause a loss of appetite. If this is a new symptom then your dog needs to go back to the vet.

Question by Michael: Can tape worms stop kennel cough in a dog from getting better?
I have a small german shepherd puppy adopted from an animal shelter and he has kennel cough. I think he may be progressing to pneumonia but we have medicine for both of these problems(kennel cough and pnemounia). I just dewormed him so I was wondering could the worms that were in his stomach be absorbing the medicine we were giving him and preventing him from getting better?

I don’t know for sure but it would make sense. The dog’s immune system would be reduced trying to fight these 2 conditions. The worms would make him less healthy in any case as his nutrition would not be well-absorbed.

Question by Britluvzyaxoxo: My DOG WONT STOP SNEEZING!?
I was taking a nap and then got woken up because I heard my dog making some wierd noise out back, I got up and looked and he was standing over one of my other dogs sneezing over and over! I brought him inside and he just kept doing it, he would kinda lift his head when he sneezed. In about 5-10 minutes I got him calmed down and gave him some water (he drank a TON) and he stopped but started again when he tried to play! it stopped when i calmed him again. Im REALLY worried about a foxtail… but there is NO blood and he isnt putting his head to the ground… Please HELP! I do not want to spend 400$ at the vet to be told he got dirt in his nose…
He went to sleep and hasn’t sneezed in over a half hour.
Thank you all for your answers, if anything is abnormal tomorrow I will be taking him in.

my first thought was foxtail. there doesn’t have to be blood. invest in some long hemostats if you have foxtails. well worth it, take him to the vet to get it out before it lodges deeper and surgery is required. Sorry. for you and your dog.

Your cat needs to see a vet. There may be something lodged in her nasal cavity besides kitty boogers.
