He’s a 8 year old Jack Russell. He’s had tick fever before but he was younger. I bought new food for him and it made of pure meat and he’ll eat it only if it’s mixed with people food. He’s pees slot too. He’s my baby and I’ll do anything to make him better if anybody can help it will mean a lot.

Dear friend,
I believe that tick fever cannot be treated at home. It appears that there is simply no home/alternative/
holistic medicines available. I only suggest to give him rest and balanced food at home and go in
for antibiotics treatment as suggested by a vet.
Hope, your beloved pet recovers soon.
best regards.

Question by Roland: Just wondering if Cephalexin would be good to treat possible Tick fever in dog?
I will be taking him in soon to the vet for blood work, but it’s just that I have almost over 100 pills left from pills that I had previously given my other dog (who passed) and was wondering if Cephalexin would be a good Antibiotic to give him just in case he might have the disease? Thanks

Cephalexin (Keflex)is a fairly broad spectrum antibiotic, however when using any antibiotic it’s imperative that you know what infection you are treating. If you are treating an infection that is not susceptible to Cephalexin, and some aren’t, you might make it worse not better. Never use an antibiotic until you are certain what the problem is.

Question by Roxann W: Looking for a vet, our dog has chronic valley fever and I’m wondering the type of medication prescribed?
Our dog has been diagnosed with chronic valley fever. She is 11 years old. The medication she was put on is fluconazole four times a day at 200 milligrams. This is a very expensive medication. If we go more than a week without dispensing the medication she is coughing and wheezing bad. I was just wondering if there were any other medications out there that would be either just as or more effective. Thanks in advance for any adavice.

Question by I Am Jack’s Wasted Life: It may be a silly question but I’m really wondering..?
Now that there’s this swine flu.. and the bird flu.. and a few years ago there was this mad cow disease.. I’m really worried there will come a day when we find ourselves forced to get rid of our dogs and cats because there’s a dog flu or a cat flu!
Could this really happen? I also heard that the swine flu could be transmitted to mammals like dogs or cats.. What can I do to make sure my dog is safe?

Just don’t introduce your dogs to any pigs.

Question by Gimme A Break: My dog seems to have the sniffles. Nothing serious yet but I’m wondering what it’s the start of?
Does Kennel Cough start out with the sniffles? I am worried because I had the Swine Flu for a week and a half. I am better now, not totally but a lot better. Now I’m worried my dog has it. I do know that dogs can get it because there have been 2 recent reports of 2 dogs having it. I also wonder when it is important to take him to the vet. I know not yet because he has just sniffled maybe 3 or 4 times all day. But what do I watch out for?
Here’s a link showing dogs have come down with Swine Flu:

I am deciding on whether or not to get my dog vaccinated for the dog flu virus. He does get groomed regularly but that’s it as far as his contact with other dogs. I’m a bit apprehensive because it’s so new, I worry about problems that the vaccine could cause down the road. Has anyone gotten their dogs vaccinated for the flu virus? Do you recommended or not recommended it?
