My 3 year old chihuahua has been having a real bad dry cough along with this constant sneezing. I took her to 2 different vets that thought she had kennel cough. They prescribed her 2-3 treatments of antibiotics each time along with dog cough syrup. She’s been in treatment for about 4 months now. They took it a step further and took x-rays and blood samples and all they can find is inflammation in her throat. Other than that, perfectly healthy. Her symptoms become mild with treatment but never go away. Each time she runs out of her medication she seems to worsen. This is going on the 5th month and Im not seeing her become healthier just, “maintained” so I can forever medicate my dog? Its coming to a point where this treatment is doing nothing for her. Is there a more natural solution to to curing my pet? Is it possible she’s having allergic reactions?

Contact your vet and let him/her know that the medicine isn’t curing the cough, but just making it better. There may be another reason for the cough and another medicine that he/she could give your dog but your vet needs to know the information about your dog that you posted here. Please contact your vet and let him/her know that this medicine is not curing your dog’s cough. He/she will know where to go from there.

Maybe your Dog has had a reaction to the pollen of trees grass or flowers. I know that my little jack russels always sneeze around this time of the year. Im sure that there is nothing seriously wrong with your dog, it might have doggy-hayfeaver

My dog keeps sneezing or barfing in her mouth I don’t know which… Shes 8 months old and we just got her yesterday. She is half bijou half chihuahua, and she is a ”runt”. She keeps biting me (but it doesn’t hurt) and keeps crying. When I hold her she trys to go in the corner of my arms and does that sneezing/barfing thing when I hold her. Whats wrong with her? And how can I help her stop?
I ment 8 weeks, not 8 months.

my dog has had a runny nose and sneezing up green snot and it has been dripping out of her nose while she is sleeping since yesterday, today she has started hacking up spit and a little food, been sleeping all day and has had some bad gas, also breathing a bit funny like she is short of breathe. Another dog she plays with has kennel cough, but she just doesnt seem to be showing signs of kennel cough. she is a hound mut and about a year old, if that even matters..
also, when i say she has hacked up spit and a little food, i meant she has hacked up all the food she has eaten today, which was only a little bit to begin with because she has been sleeping all day and hasnt gotten up to eat when we feed her
well it has been the weekend, we will take her in as soon as we can, and as a “vet” i think you gave the worst advice! im not putting my dog down over a silly cold….

When she walks she stumbles around when you pick her up then put her down, then both her ears are red. At night and morning she has high fevers then, she won’t hardly eat and she has chills, What could be her problem
She hase chills,fever,stumbles and she won’t eat her ears are red. I also put the Hartz flea medicine right after that on Monday we put it on Saturday and she started getting sick.
We are taking her to the vet today. They said on the internet to give them an 1/2 of a baby asprin not the vets but it works she feels like eating and walking. I just hope she dosn’t have anything serous. I’ll give an update later on

can dogs catch colds?

Yes dogs can catch colds and have allergies too. Could be something has irritated its nose, like pepper would do. He could also have a winter cold. If it gets worse or keeps up, take him to the vet. Not sure if dogs can catch the flu but I know cats can and its been deadly for them. So if its not better in a day or two, call your vet.
