what can you guys tell me about the dog flu in america?

okay so im in egypt and on the news they said that dogs are dying in america from dog flu thats all i know so here are some things i want to know?
How does it happen?
Can people catch it like swine or bird flu?
How do you protect your dog from it?
How does it spread to other dogs?
any other info youse have youd be great! thanx!

thats just another name for kennel cough. it is contagious to other dogs but not humans.
