Why do people die from the swine flu?
Posted by: Alan in dog flu treatment, tags: from, people, swine
I understand that some people can die from the regular flu if they get a high fever or get dehydrated. Or Parvo (like the flu) in dogs only kills them because the cells split causing bloody diarrhea.
So what is it about the swine flu that kills you, and can you get it from eating pork?
(I have been reading about the swine flu online and cant find the answers to my questions.)

Humans can fight off the regular flu, but the swine flu is crossed with animals, and our bodies can’t deal with that (the virus contains animal genes). Right now it is spread through contact – people in Mexico have been advised to avoid crowds, not shake hands, and not to take the subway. There have been reported cases in 2 US cities, and it is suspected in New York, but only 11 cases. Here’s a link that might help:

The World Health Organization (WHO) says properly handled and prepared pork products are safe to eat. The swine flu virus dies when cooked at temperatures of 70C or higher.
The majority of people don’t die from the flu itself, it’s other problems caused by the flu, for example pneumonia or other secondary infections but I don’t know any more information than this.

Not everyone who catch this swine flu die from it. The symptoms of swine flu is kinda like regular flu so when you’re feeling sick you should go see the doctor. But if you don’t take good care of your self you can catch the flu and die. Watch your hands with soap before you eat and avoid touching your nose, eyes, and mouth. And no you don’t get it from eating pork just make sure it is cooked properly.
“The CDC says that swine flu viruses are not transmitted by food. Properly cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills all bacteria and viruses.” from http://health.msn.com/health-topics/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100237427>1=31036
